Hello, I am Anna, the ceramicist behind Ceranna Designs, based in the village of Girton in Cambridge. What began in a garage shared with my husband, who creates turned wood pieces, soon needed a home of its own. That is how a small garden shed became the centre of my studio, and it is where every piece you see today is made.   My ceramic journey began in 2013, when I first discovered the magic of clay. From that moment I was hooked. Throwing on the wheel sits at the heart of everything I create. It is where form takes shape, ideas unfold, and new pieces begin to come to life.   I work with stoneware and porcelain, drawn to their strength and subtlety. My focus is always on form rather than function, seeking elegant shapes that catch the eye and invite touch. You will often find my signature details such as a gentle kiss of a spout on the lips of my jugs and distinctive handles on vessels worked into each design.   Many of my pieces are woodsmoke fired, a process that produces surfaces that are both soft and dramatic. No two firings are ever alike. The results often bring to mind clouds drifting or waves folding over themselves, quietly expressive and naturally beautiful.   The glazes I use favour subtlety. They combine gentle colour and delicate texture, revealing more the longer you look. The process is continually evolving to include more dramatic combinations.   I am increasingly interested in altered forms and am experimenting with new ideas.   Thank you for visiting and for supporting handmade craft.
